The Cardiology Oncology Innovation Network is a nonprofit organization and a network in which many of the foremost minds in cardiology and oncology meet and exchange ideas on innovation, with an overall focus on prevention, education, and collaboration.
All of our internships can be completed virtually. While these positions do not offer monetary compensation, our interns receive complimentary registration for all network events. More information pertaining to available positions can be found below.
Meet the Mentors
Dr. Sherry-Ann Brown, MD PhD
Founder and President
Dr. Brown is an Assistant Professor and Director of Cardio-Oncology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Her research in cardio-oncology and preventive cardiology incorporates precision medicine, artificial intelligence, digital health, and other forms of innovation.
Dr. Craig Beavers, PharmD
Director of Cardiovascular Team
Dr. Beavers is the cardiovascular clinical pharmacy coordinator at UK Healthcare and assistant adjunct professor with the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy
Dr. Avirup Guha, MD MPH
Director of Informatics
Dr. Guha is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve University SOM and a Cardiologist at UH.
Dr. Hugo Martinez, MD
Director of International Relations- Latin America
Dr. Martinez is an Assistant Professor, Division of Pediatric Cardiology at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
Dr. Brenton Bauer, MD
Network Member
Dr. Bauer is a board-certified internist and cardiologist at COR Healthcare in Los Angeles who specializes in general cardiology, cardio-oncology, and advanced cardiac imaging.
Dr. Richard K. Cheng, MD MSc
Director of Clinical Development
Dr. Cheng is a UW associate professor of cardiology and an adjunct associate professor of radiology. Dr. Cheng is an expert in left ventricular dysfunction and cardiomyopathies.
Dr. Eric Yang, MD
Director of Social Media Outreach
Dr. Eric Yang is currently an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Ronald Reagan University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center. His clinical and research interests include valvular disease, advanced multimodality imaging, echocardiography, and cardio-oncology.
Dr. Anne Blaes, MD
Director of Research
Dr. Anne Blaes is the Interim Division Director and an Associate Professor in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Minnesota. She is the section head of Medical Oncology within this division and is Director of Cancer Survivorship Services and Translational Research within the Masonic Cancer Center
Dr. Neha Bansal, MD
Director of Lifespan Integration
Dr. Bansal is an Attending Physician in the Department of Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
